Beauty and the Beast and more

We have been busy, busy, busy but have recently completed our wholesale orders, and are now free to create. Some of our recent creations hark back to the elegance of the yesteryear, pieces that have the charm of vintage, but without the age of vintage. My fave is the Beauty and the Beast bracelet, the combination of chains and linkages look sophisticated and elegant enough for an evening event, or to wear in the day, and can look funky and art deco-ish too.

Without further ado, presenting Bohemian Closet's Summer hot hot Collection 07:

Audrey Hepburn Necklace

One of the most fashion forward icons of our time, Audrey Hepburn has been widely acknowledged as one of the quintessential beauties of the silver screen- petite and gamine, her classic wardrobe and choice of colors have ensured that she has become a truly Timeless icon, an elegant screen goddess. One of the designer's favorite inspirations, this is the Audrey Necklace.

The Audrey Necklace consists of multiple solid black chains measuring 28" hung together with a beautifully framed centerpiece in the form of a lovely hat shaped piece made up of a lucite black hoop and a round charm, with a mother of pearl like glossy veneer in the center of the charm, framed by a Victorian gold-black rim. A single black fabric tassel, with a gold filigree cap, extends from the bottom of the piece, cementing this as one of the most versatile pieces in any wardrobe. Truly elegant and timeless.

One Limited Edition piece only.

Retails at $48.

The Military Madeline Necklace

Military brooches often utilise multiple overlapping chains hanging from one length, to create the illusion of height and beauty. Here, we were inspired by the vintage German brooches from the post war period - but we wanted it to be feminine and beautiful to wear, able to translate into a necklace. Hence, Madeline the Military Necklace of our Ebony Black Series 2007 was born.

Madeline is made up of multiple black chains strung together, with a very special bronze-gold filigree ball, in which a green luminous bead is trapped inside the filigree ball and moves inside the ball when you shake the filigree ball. On the right, we hung a gold filigree capped white fabric tassel, feminine and exquisite and toning down the black tones of the necklace. Finally, the dramatic centerpiece is our homage to the military styles popular these days on the fashion catwalks.

An eyecatching piece, if there ever was.

One Limited Edition piece only.

*This necklace comes with a presentation box and a complimentary Japanese hand embroidered small clutch.

Retails at $55.

The Renaissance Necklace

The Renaissance was a cultural movement that profoundly affected European intellectual life in the early modern period. Beginning in Italy, and spreading to the rest of Europe by the 16th century, its influence was felt in literature, philosophy, art, politics, science, religion, and other aspects of intellectual enquiry.

In creating this piece called Regina, we wanted to embody the fusion of two elements commonly seen separately: gold and silver. A union of both colors results in a delicious combination, paired with black, it sets off the colors perfectly. Three silver and gold fish scales-design squares hang on the left of the 24" necklace, while an ornate signed Monet silver-gold brooch hangs on the right of the necklace. We then decided to add a feminine twist to Regina, by threading through a velvet cream ribbon through the upper portion of the necklace, so in effect, you can use the lobster clasp and also tie a lusciously cream velvet bow at the back of your neck. Very stylish for an evening out with your hair up.

One Limited Edition piece only - this piece will not be reproduced.

** This necklace comes in a lovely presentation box and with a Japanese hand embroidered small clutch, to thank you for shopping at Bohemian Closet.

The Venetian Gondolier

In Venice, where the paved cobbled walkways and the canals sparkle, a solitary Gondolier rolls the gondola past the afternoon sunlight. The beauty of the gondola moving on waters, like hats on water, against the romantic landscape of the Venetian landscape. Did you know that Venetian tradition dictates that couples must kiss under every bridge for Eternal Love? Such is the romanticism of this favorite city of one of the designers.

We designed this tribute to the city called Venezia, the Venetian Gondolier because if you look closely, you can see the form and shape of a gondola. Can you spot it? On a 24" black chain, 2 solid gold letters 'V's, in the classic Baroque Victorian tradition are hung, the smaller V attached to a beautiful quaint black chain tassel. Further along , two delicate freshwater pearls and a larger disco ball like white bead, so termed because of the multi faceted cutting into the bead sparkle in the sunlight. In the center of the chain, we hung a thicker black-silver chain to complete the look.

One Limited Edition Piece only, due to rarity of the letters 'V'.
